- Not to be confused with Samuraina.
The Samurai is a recurring enemy in the Ganbare Goemon series. He is an elite warrior serving under a ruling lord during the feudal period of Japan.
Appearances
Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Dōchū
The Samurai usually moves at a fast rate and will attack by slashing with his sword when an enemy approaches.
Two versions of samurai actually appear in this game:
- Samurai (侍): Warrior that just wields and swings a samurai sword.
- Musha (武者): A soldier clad up in samurai armor (sans a helmet) who also wields and swings a samurai sword.
The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Samurais are only encountered in Warlock Zone II: Statue of Cat. Unlike other incarnations of this enemy in the series, here, they attack in groups. They generally attack in groups of three, and rarely, two or even one (although this seems to be because the other members weren't able to spawn due of how the screen was scrolling when they should have appeared).
Right after entering the screen, the samurais will rush forward in a straight line and –once they reach the player's vicinity– will slash with their swords. After performing this attack, the group will disband and each samurai will walk either up or down and then about, trying to reposition themselves in order to repeat the same attack.
Fortunately, since they attack in a tight group, two or even all three of them can frequently be taken down with a single attack.
