The Gun Corps is a recurring enemy in the Ganbare Goemon series. He is an armed guard who shoots bullets with the musket he carries.

A guard wearing classic Japanese soldier uniform who carries a musket on his back. These troops guard the castle's dungeon cells in the final stage, Warlock Zone IX: Final Story, and are one of the main opposing forces the player will have to contend with in that area. Making honor to his name, the Gun Corps will pace slowly a few steps, then kneel to take aim with his musket and shoot, releasing three bullets simultaneously and in a spreading manner. Due to the wide area these projectiles can cover as they travel, they can leave little space on the field for the player to maneuver. Furthermore, if the guard shoots from a distance, this will traduce in the bullets having already spread out considerably when they reach the player's position, leaving them even less space to evade them. As such, if the field suddenly gets riddled with bullets, viable strategies to avoid them are to either seek refuge by entering any of the many doors in the background or moving to the next area.
More Gun Corps units can be found in the 2D action scene of this level, although, unlike their town scene variant, most of them will be found already kneeling on their posts and ready to shoot. They'll only shoot a single bullet straightforward and at a determined interval this time around, so most of the times, the player will have enough time to deal with them before they start shooting (easier done with their ranged weapon), although, due to the heavy spawning of other enemies in this area, as well as their high speed, sometimes this might prove a bit difficult.
